On June 1st 2005 ArtShakes.com began offering
a premium level of service to individuals in the Original
Fine Art Collecting community. We have long felt that this
web site had more potential than just being a Gallery to
display original fine art. For the past several months
we have discussed possible ways to move the site to more
of a marketplace concept where Dealers, Buyers and Sellers
can better interact with each other – and Gallery Owners
can be more productive on the site. We feel we have created
a strong group of features in this initial offering.
So there is no confusion, this web site will continue to
offer free Gallery space to all original fine art collectors
and professional fine artists and creators. This will not
change. Original Art Collectors who only wish to take advantage
of the site’s new premium features and not display
their collections can do so as well. Displaying your artwork
is not a prerequisite to participating.
The features outlined below are part of our first phase
of programming enhancements to ArtShakes.com to achieve
this marketplace concept. More updates and future enhancements
are planned, but we felt these primary features were a great
place to kick off the service. Because this is the direction
we want to take the site in the future, most future enhancements
will be focused in this area. We will continue to add new
features and enhancements to the existing free Galleries
as the need requires.
Although
we must view your participation as an annual subscription
to this service, we feel that those who choose to utilize
these site features are really supporting our efforts in
this hobby for years to come. New features added to the
site will be driven by participating Premium Gallery Owner’s
feedback, and wherever we see a need to be addressed. We
want this site to become the first place you visit on the
web each day if it isn’t already. To further show our
commitment to this web site we have recently purchased a
new server exclusively for the ArtShakes.com web site,
at a cost of more than $3,000, and will be installing it
within the next few weeks.
As part of the rollout of these new features we will give
all our registered users one week to try out the new features
for free. If you like the service then you can choose to
upgrade your account (We'll soon have information posted
to the site describing the methods of payment.). If you're
not interested you can continue to use the site as you always
have. We appreciate everyone’s support and kind words
over the past two and a half years and look forward to serving
you into the future.
With that introduction out of the way, here is the list

One of the most frequently asked questions
we receive from ArtShakes.com Site Members is “How
do I find the Art other Gallery Owners have For Sale?”
We have solved this problem. Premium Gallery Owners can
now “flag” one or more Gallery Rooms as having
Art For Sale inside. The Artwork from these Gallery Rooms
is then also located in a new “ArtShakes.com Classifieds”
section of the site with its own Classifieds Only Search.
The Artwork from these For Sale Gallery Rooms also gets
included in the overall site search and the daily Keyword
Search Email Alerts.
Do
you find yourself always checking out a particular Collector’s
Gallery Room because you are interested in the Artwork they
collect? Now you can “watch” any Site Member Gallery
you desire and view your new Watched Galleries List ordered
by when each Gallery was last updated. We even go one step
further and include these same Watched Galleries in your
scheduled Email Alert (details below). You’ll never
miss a favorite Collector’s update again.
If you are looking for a comprehensive way to find everything
new on ArtShakes.com then this is it. Save your favorite
keyword searches into the Email Alert configuration screen,
schedule the time and how often each day you want to be
updated, and let the original fine artwork updates come
to you. Alerts can be scheduled for delivery once, twice,
or four times daily showing you new site content from the
last 24, 12 or 6 hours respectively. All Artwork
added to the site matching your Keywords is included in
the Alert. The Email Alert is organized by your Keywords,
and grouped by Member Gallery Pieces, Dealer For Sale Pieces,
and Member Gallery For Sale Pieces. As already mentioned,
we also include your Watched Site Member Galleries in the
Email Alert if their Gallery was updated in the same time
range as the overall Alert.
We’d
like to think that after eBay, ArtShakes.com is every
Collector’s favorite location on the Internet to locate
original fine artwork to purchase through our central Dealer
For Sale Search and our new ArtShakes.com Classifieds
section. Not wanting to stop there we have come up with
a way to integrate eBay auctions into ArtShakes.com.
Save your favorite eBay Keyword Searches (the Fine
Art Category only!) and Seller IDs at ArtShakes.com and view live
eBay Auctions on ArtShakes.com. We make it easy to save
and organize your favorite eBay Keyword Searches and set
up your search preferences just like you do on eBay today.
As a Premium Gallery Owner you can also save your eBay ID
at ArtShakes.com, and when you have auctions running on eBay you can
promote them through our web site.
ArtShakes.com earns a commission from your using our
site as a vehicle to enter eBay. This happens whenever you
bid, win an auction, or use a buy-it-now function on eBay.
For that to happen, you must click from the eBay search
results displayed within ArtShakes.com and place your
bids and purchases on eBay. This commission program should
help us keep the costs of maintaining this Premium Gallery
Owner service to an affordable annual cost.
Have you ever wished that you could upload several images
at a time and update their descriptions later and activate
them on the site? Now you can upload as many as six images
at a time and modify their descriptions later. For large
updates, photos from Cons, etc., this comes in very handy.
Today we resize
the artwork you upload to 800 pixels in height when your
original image height is greater than that. Premium Gallery
Owners will be able to upload a 1250 pixel tall image without
it being resized. An 11 x 17 inch page, scanned at 72 dpi
and 100% will be less than 1250 pixels.
ArtShakes.com is utilizing a service
that allows us to spider only fine art related web sites
for content and create a central Google-style search engine.
News sites, artist sites, etc., will be included, but Dealer
and other sites with original fine art for sale will not
be included because we already have those inventories in
our Dealer For Sale search. Premium members can suggest
sites to be included in this site search and ArtShakes.com
will review each selection for its merit and determine whether
or not it should be included in the search.

a new section on the homepage will randomly display one
Featured Gallery Item from all participating Premium Gallery
Owners.
There will also be an acknowledgement page
created to list all our Premium Gallery Owners with links
back to their Galleries. Without their support the tools
we are making available would not be possible.
